7 Must-do Things in Las Vegas

I frequently get asked for cool things to do in Vegas and I know a ton of you guys over there for the WSOP right now so here’s the master-list of my favourite stuff to hit in Las Vegas…

Cirque de Soleil
I’d highly recommend seeing a show, even if you’re not the theatre type you’ll still love it. ‘O’ at the Bellagio was fantastic, the stage is a huge water tank that changes shape throughout the production, the show features comedy, theatre, dance, amazing visuals and breathtaking stunts. Ka at MGM and Blue Man Group both come highly rated too.

Hit XS
I’ll make the choice of club easy for you, go to Xs. It’s widely regarded by locals as the hottest club in Vegas and features awesome outdoor/indoor poolside areas. Getting a table makes a big difference to the experience – you skip the lines outside, get hostess/waitress service and have your own area to hang out in. Call the clubs VIP host to negotiate a price with them, bottles of Grey Goose usually work out cheapest.
I had a lot of fun at Lavo at Palazzo and Foundation Room at Mandalay Bay too. If you really aren’t into clubs but still want to drink somewhere cool then I’d recommend Ghostbar at The Palms – it’s a rooftop bar with awesome views of the strip.

Get Trashed on The Strip
Las Vegas is designed to be experienced drunk and there’s no better place then The Strip to wander around wasted. You’ll find a trifecta of cheap drinking awesomeness near Caesars and Flamingo that is Buffalo Bills Casino, O’Sheas and Rockhouse.

Bills has a bar up the back of the Casino that serves a ton of $1 drinks, just ask a member of staff to point it out, you can load up on cheap drinks and take them out to the strip. Rockhouse is a solid dive bar with playing only the trashiest rock music.
O’Sheas is probably my favourite bar in Vegas, it’s just a mess, cheap drinks, cheap gambling and sweet beer pong action. If you’re around in the afternoon there should be a little guy dressed as a Leprechaun hanging out :)

Off of the strip I’d really recommend Stoneys on Thursday night (Ladies night). It’s a HUGE country night club with a massive dance floor, mechanical bull, pool, beer pong, etc. I’m pretty sure it was all you can drink for $15 for guys, I’m struggling to recall any of the details though… it got pretty messy fast!

Shoot Guns
Like a true degenerate you should book some time firing off Uzis, AK47s and Desert Eagles at The Gun Store. They do very reasonable packages allowing you to fire a bunch of different guns. With a party of people it’s great fun, we each fired 4 machine guns of our choice then did an accuracy competition with the Desert Eagle at the end. I still need to go back to take them up on the offer of firing their RPG in the car park.

Eat Epic Steaks
I’d recommend N9ne at the Palms as my favourite steak restaurant so far. Top notch food and service, good for celebrity spotting… David Blaine was at the table next to us when I was there. It’s a good opportunity to try Kobe beef if you don’t plan on going to Japan in the near future!

An honourable mention has to go to Ellis Island, a small casino located a little off the strip. They have a special that isn’t on the menu… You get a 10-ounch filet cut steak with sides, soup or salad and a pint of awesome in-house microbrewed beer for $7.99. Hard to beat! Just ask your server for the “steak special” and you won’t have any problems ordering.

The Palm at Caesars is really solid too however my opinion might be a little skewed after freerolling my share of the meal playing credit card roulette. Also, Las Vegas has In ‘n’ Out Burger (there’s one across from UNLV), don’t forget to go ‘animal style’ on that.

Make it Rain
Hitting up a strip club in Vegas isn’t something that should be planned, it should just happen… usually around 4am at the tail end of the night when the options turn to going home, getting breakfast or more drinking.

The Spearmint Rhino is the best strip club in Vegas, possibly the best strip club in the world employing over 2,000 strippers! If you’re in Vegas, I don’t care who you are, you need to go there. Be sure to take a ton of $1 bills with you, don’t take any plastic! Yes, if you’re a girl they’ll let you in, and yes you will have a sweet time.

Gambooool!
Getting the most out of free drinks in casinos while gambling is a skill! I’ve decided to write a separate post on that, expect it to be up soon.

Any things you think I’ve missed? Go ahead and fire them in the comments so other people can enjoy them!

Holy SHIT. RPG in the car lot? That’s fucking awesome. Probably the closest thing you can get to this in the States: http://www.travelpod.com/travel-blog-entries/andy1985/rtw-2006/1163574780/tpod.html

And nothing beats that gun picture. True badass.

Actually, Vegas is one of the premier places in the US of A for golf getaways. If you love golf and have the money to drop, it is a must to play some golf out in Vegas.

Just been mate. Hit up a bar called ‘Diablo’s’ just down from the ESPN zone. Completely random as couldn’t get a table for one of the play off games – walked in and got sat down for food – massive big screen came down plus commentary – hot waitresses, quality mexican beers and scran. They had a different special every 30 mins.

I want to go back :-(

As a regular in Vegas, I have never once thought of shooting guns there! This might be the single greatest idea I never had! Next time for sure I am headed to shoot some AKs…Thanks for the recommendation!
